Federal Council Schneider-Ammann is back from China since last Sunday. In the center of his visit was the free trade agreement between Switzerland and China. The agreement is already very wide-ranging but Mr. Schneider-Ammann still likes to extend it because trade between the two countries is booming and exports grew by 8 percent yearly (if the gold trade is not considered).
In addition, Mr. Schneider-Ammann mentioned company takeovers: He said in the future it must be must be possible that the Swiss government can intervene if a foreign company plans to takeover critical infrastructure in Switzerland, no matter where this company comes from. He also said that Swiss companies should be allowed to take over companies in China, not only the other way around.
