Beijing’s opening of its service sector for foreign investors

In 2015, Beijing first started a program to open its service sector to foreign investors, the program has then been updated in July 2017 and currently lists 10 areas where foreign companies can expand their business. In late 2017, several temporary adjustments have been introduced, which will further reduce restrictions for foreign investors. These new adjustments are effective from December 22 2017 to May 5th 2018 and will lower qualification standards as well as broaden the scope of permitted businesses in areas such as culture and education, business and tourism, science and technology, healthcare, and finance.  After May 5th, the program will be assessed to determine whether adjustments to the regulations are necessary.
